Abstract

Lifecycle Management Policy for Safety, Reliability and Maintainability is essential for the Railway interlocking Systems that provide movement authority to the train drivers. This policy covers all the phases of system Lifecycle right from planning to replacement at the end of service life. Some less considered activities are procurement guidelines, effects of human errors and procedure audits. Involvements of management and staff are equally important. This paper highlights activities covering Lifecycle RAM based Safety Management of Computer based Railway interlocking Systems.

This paper highlights activities needed during various phases of lifecycle RAM oriented Safely Management for a computer based railway interlocking system. Adopting these processes would benefit the Railways to have an optimum return of investment.
